ArcAttack Electrifies Texas Rockfest pt. 1

Austin's own ArcAttack plays Texas Rockfest during SXSW. ArcAttack uses a MiKo to power two self-built Tesla coils, that produce "singing lightning bolts" which require no speakers. ArcAttack controls the coils through MIDI, as well as a full drum set controlled by robotic mechanisms. ArcAttack are taking their MiKo on a European tour this summer, 2009. ArcAttack will be performing in Austin on March 18-20 at the Texas RockFest outdoor stage, and will be using an Open Labs MiKo to power their performance. Austin, Texas' own ArcAttack invited Open Labs to their studio to show how they control lightening and tune it to pitch using a Tesla coil and a complex MIDI system. |

This is a presentation by Joe DiPrima and Oliver Greaves at "Art Outside" at Austin's enchanted forest in March of 2007. These are 4 polyphonic singing tesla coils that utilized a zero-crossing detector as an interrupter, or pulse rate modulation(PRM) generator. |

ArcAttack is a music group from Austin, Texas. I saw them live at the Austin Maker Faire '08. They use electrical arcs generated by Tesla Coils to create their own style of music. The visual aspect is unimaginably cool. You'd have to see it live, but here's a video.
